  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tsp ginger grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • green onion for garnish
  • white sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

  1. Make the sauce by combining soy sauce, water, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Whisk and set aside.
  2. Cook ground beef, ginger, and garlic until beef is browned.
  3. Pour sauce over ground beef and stir well.
  4. Mix cornstarch and water, then pour into the ground beef. Simmer until sauce thickens.
  5. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasonings.
  6. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. Serve over rice.
